ANSA) – HAVANA, 09 JUL – Cuba reported 3,664 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, a new record of daily infections for the second consecutive day that confirm the worsening of the pandemic on the island.
Since the start of the pandemic, the country has accumulated 214,577 positives and 1,405 deaths, 18 of which were confirmed in the latest daily report yesterday.
Matanzas, a province of the western part of Cuba, continues today to be the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic with 806 new cases in 24 hours, followed by Havana with 666 cases and Santiago de Cuba, with 390 patients.
43,469 people are currently hospitalized in hospitals and isolation centers in Cuba, of which 20,882 confirmed active cases, 13,907 suspected and 8,680 under epidemiological surveillance. There are 184 patients admitted to intensive care, of which 105 are serious and 79 in critical conditions.
The ministry of public health warned that the situation in the country is very complex. In 2021, the infections showed a constant growth with maximums every month.
July has already recorded 20,632 confirmed cases in its first six days and 103 deaths. (HANDLE)
